Abu Dhabi, August 15, 2025 — Mariam AlMazrouei, Emirati advocate and author of the forthcoming book From Dose to Doses, has condemned Sudan’s rapid transformation into a Captagon manufacturing hub, calling it “a slow-motion erasure of a nation’s capacity to think and to dream.”

A recent New Lines Institute report reveals industrial-scale production in Sudan, with facilities capable of producing tens of thousands of pills per hour. Armed groups, including the Rapid Support Forces, control smuggling routes and profit from the trade.

Mariam AlMazrouei warns Sudan’s Captagon crisis is a

“Sudan is fighting two wars,” AlMazrouei said. “One is loud, with rifles and bombs. The other is silent, with chemicals and profit margins. A bullet kills quickly. A pill kills slowly. The bullet leaves a grave; the pill leaves a walking shadow.”

Quoting from her book From Dose to Doses, she warns: “When a country turns to the trade of narcotics, it is not only exporting poison — it is importing its own decay. No border can contain the rot once the soul of the nation is for sale.”

In the same book, she also writes: “Addiction is not merely a personal weakness; it is a slow war against the human will, fought in silence, disguised as relief, and sold as comfort.” She describes Captagon’s spread in Sudan as a “soft war” designed to weaken a population before it can rebuild.

She urges the international community to impose targeted sanctions, share intelligence, and integrate addiction treatment into humanitarian aid. “Every pill seized is a fragment of the future reclaimed,” she said. “To fight Captagon is to defend the sanctity of the human mind.”

Captagon, AlMazrouei cautions, is a regional and global threat. “Drugs move faster than diplomacy,” she noted. “Their damage outlasts any ceasefire.”
